“The River” is the first single from Warring, the Darcys third and final installation in a trilogy released by the renowned Canadian indie rock label, Arts and Crafts Records on September 17. The slow burning single is indicative of the sound you’ll hear on the album — you’ll hear elements of soul in the vocals, some subtle elements of jazz in the instrumentation with an art rock sheen. Adding to the song’s moody tone is a gentle swirl of electronics in the background. Delicate and ethereal, like smoke, the song feels like it’ll dissipate before your eyes — and yet it’ll have a haunting, lingering presence that’s inescapable. 

The official video plays around with the perception of time as it has the action of the video – the subject of the video falling off a bridge in slow – in reverse and forward. And it has a surreal and stunning beauty as it kind of messes with your understanding of time.
