The Sword’s latest effort, Apocryphon landed on this site’s Best of 2012 list. The album represents several changes for the band – the first album the band had produced by someone else; the first album on their new label, Razor and Tie Records; and it’s an album that offers a subtle change of direction as a few songs use buzzing synths and elements of prog rock, to go along with the power chords… .
Of course, what’s consistent is that each song reveals a rather complicated mythology which employs time travel, witches, interspace travel, space gypsies and other things. It’s actually goofy and nerdy as hell but it still kicks major ass. Check out the official video for “Veil of Feathers."
