The Turkish producer/musician Alpman’s latest project, the tintm 7"released through Kept Records, isn’t traditional Turkish music. in fact when you hear the A side off the single, “tintm,” you’ll hear that this effort owes a great deal to 70s funk – the groove, propelled by fuzzed out guitars played through wah wah pedal, percussion and thick bass, will remind you quite a bit of slowed down breakbeats. As I was playing it, I was reminded of the instrumentals that came up on the Beastie Boys‘ Ill Communication.
