August is a very busy month in music history:

- Public Enemy‘s Chuck D. celebrated his 64th birthday on August 1
- Butch Vig celebrates his 69th birthday today
Echo and the Bunnymen‘s first dummer Pete de Freitas was born on this day 63 years ago. We lost him back in 1989 at the tragically young age of 27. He remains one of the most important parts of Echo and the Bunnymen’s first three albums — 1980’s Porcupine, 1981’s Heaven Up Here and 1984’s Ocean Rain.
