Turkish producer and recording artist Alpman’s latest single “Resist!” is inspired by the people and the events of Occupy Gezi in Istanbul, Turkey. I won’t pretend to say that I’m knowledgeable enough to know all the details as far as the protestors motivations and inspirations behind it but what do I know is that Istanbul’s young people are peacefully attempting to resist government actions. 

As far as the track, it starts off with a funky bass line, military-styled drumming, followed by a slick organ line; in fact, the track at points reminds me of some of the greatest protest music ever heard – Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat. From listening to the track, it should make you want to stand up and resist alongside Istanbul’s young people.
