Yesterday, I had left work early to watch what turned out to be the disastrous last innings of the Yankee season at a bar near my office. And afterward, I stopped at a McDonald’s for an Angus Deluxe snack wrap when they started to play Hall and Oates’ “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do).” So picture this: I’m waiting for my food at a slow McDonald’s, and I’m singing along with the song – in public. Yes, I do that from time to time, and I can’t help myself.

As cheesy as Hall and Oates were back then, if I hear one of their ridiculously big 80s hits, it brings back memories. And to be fair, “I Can’t Go For That,” is actually an incredibly tight, slickly produced song. It shouldn’t be very surprising that De La Soul sampled it in “Say No Go."
