After the release of 2011release Omega La La, the Brooklyn-based septet of Rubblebucket had an incredible 2012 in which they stepped out into the national stage with their first appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I caught them live a couple of times and honestly, they’re a lot of fun live. 

The follow up to their debut effort, Oversaturated EP received critical praise from the likes of Paste, USA Today, Noisey, and others. 

In January, the members of the band decided to take a bit of a break from a rather hectic schedule – by playing a few festivals, and by doing a couple of one off shows here and there. Kalmia Traver and Alex Toth also made appearances at several Superhuman Happiness shows across the country as well. But they were also writing and recording the material that will comprise the Save Charlie EP, which Communion Records will be releasing on September 24th. The EP title track and first single “Save Charlie” is a breezy, limber track with explosive bursts of horn, big boom bap style drums, and scratchy guitars as Traver coos the song’s lyrics with a coquettish charm. It’s perhaps even more danceable than some of their previously released material while retaining both the band’s tendencies for funk and to effortlessly play with genres.
