Comprised of Shelby Gaudet (vocals, guitar), Amber Kraft (drums, percussion), Christopher Laramee (guitar), Sonia Dickin (bass, vocals), and Elsa Gebremichael (keys and vocals), the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based shoegazer rock quintet of Powder Blue gained international attention for their 2013 release, Dream in Black. In fact that effort saw distribution in Japan and won their spots in several showcases in the UK and in Europe for a sound that’s largely inspired by the likes of Spacemen 3, Brian Jonestown Massacre, and The Cure; however, on “Feel It,” the latest single off the band’s forthcoming EP, II the band’s sound reminds me quite a bit more of The Verve’s self-titled EP – in other words it’s a dreamily, ethereal and improvised, downtempo sort of shoegazer rock. At times, it feels as though the song could easily float into the ether.
