Comprised of the Indonesian vocalist Melati Malay and Austrian producer isaac Emmanuel, the New York-based band Young Magic’s forthcoming sophomore effort Breathing Statues is slated for a May 6 release through Carpark Records. The duo of Malay and Emmanuel recorded and pieced together Breathing Statues’s material while on tour, recording material during stops in Morocco, France, the Czech Republic, Australia, Iceland and their home studio here in NYC and that experience has heavily influenced the new effort as the material contains surreal lyrics and hauntingly spectral harmonies, backed by somewhat sparse, beats reminiscent of Portishead and others as you’ll hear on the album’s latest single “Fall In” but with a slightly alien feel.  It evokes a claustrophobic and uneasy anxiousness that is quite fitting for our seemingly doom and dread-inspired times.

Directed by Angus Borsos, the gorgeously shot official video was filmed in Xilitla, Mexico after their Festival NRML show a little while ago, and much like the song has an otherworldly, timeless feel.
