Dead Hippie Squadron is the solo recording project of Vancouver, BC-based composer and multi-instrumentalist, Julian Michal Zembrowski. Although Zembrowski has played the guitar for many years, Dead Hippie Squadron has the Vancouver-based composer employing the use of electronic instrumentation to create ambient and ethereal soundscapes. “Chilling Spree” his latest composition possesses a stark and icy minimalism, as it consists of swirling electronics, brief bursts of industrial cling and clank, and menacing synths. Interestingly, the track manages to sound both claustrophobic and cinematic while bearing a resemblance to the likes of Brooklyn’s Sleeper’s Work and of the legendary Brian Eno.
