I caught the extremely young, Los Angeles, CA-based trio of the Vim Dicta at a relatively early set at Piano’s on Monday night and I was impressed – they play with a confidence and assuredness well beyond their actual age. Check out their latest single “Point Blank.” The material owes a great debt to the sweaty, blues-heavy psychedelica of Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, and the equally complex song structures of Soundgarden. And just like those bands, there’s a sense of the band creating songs from extended jam sessions with musicians who can really fucking play.
