It’s been a rather busy few days in the JOVM world as I will be covering 8 shows in about 13 days or something like that, so unfortunately, I haven’t been able to post as much as I’d like to – but there worse things to complain about in life, right? In any case, let’s get down to business.
Up-and-coming 22 year old Jamaican reggae vocalist Toian has received quite a bit of attention across the blogosphere for a breezy, R&B inspired reggae sound as you’ll hear on her latest single “Love It,” off her soon-to-be released debut EP, Retrospect. Listening to this one reminds me of catching Davhed Levy’s show on WBLS on Sunday evenings even down to its lyrical content: the song’s confident narrator talks about her love of rude boys – in particular, the one rude boy who has stolen her heart in a way that the others can’t compete.
It’s a sweet, warm tease of summer that I’m sure that my fellow East Coasters will happily take.
