Live Concert Photography: Academy Records and Union Pool Presents Summer Thunder at Union Pool 7/7/24: Joe Bataan
Summer Thunder is a free weekly summer showcase, presented by Academy Records and the folks at Union Pool that features up-and-coming nationally and internationally touring acts and DJs at the Williamsburg hotspot and music venue’s back patio.
Throughout the course of the annual showcase’s run, Union Pool and Academy Records have regularly hosted the legendary avant-garde jazz outfit, Sun Ra Arkestra, the New York-based boogaloo, Latin soul and salsa composer, songwriter and pianist Joe Bataan, and an eclectic array of artists across a wide span of genres and styles.
Last month, I caught two shoegazey and trance-inducing electronic acts Bitchin Bajas and Gift Horse. Earlier this month, I caught the legendary Joe Bataan and his backing band, who makes an annual stop at Union Pool. Check out some photos below.
