Live Concert Photography: Brandyn Burnette and Molly Moore and herMajesty
Piano’s
January 6, 2016
Although we’re now 22 days into the new year, 2016 has continued on the same incredibly hectic pace of 2015. Earlier this month I was at Piano’s to catch up-and-coming artists (and adorable couple) Brandyn Burnette and Molly More, and NYC-based indie pop quintet herMajesty.
Burnette is a self-taught third generation St. Louis, MO-born, Los Angeles, CA-based progressive soul singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, who has written songs for MKTO, Jake Miller and Charlie Puth — and as a result of opening for John Mayer, Jon Bellion and James Bay, as well as appearing on American Idol‘s final season, has seen a rapidly growing national profile. His girlfriend, Moore is a Hastings-On-Hudson, NY-born, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter, who like Burnette grew up in a musical household — her father was working a musician and her mother was a chiropractor who loved to sing. Moore has received attention for a landing a number of high-profile musical placements including Keeping up With The Kardashians, Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Bad Girls Club, The Real World, Saturday Night Live, Dance Moms, Best Ink, the major motion picture Underdogs and others. Moore has also developed a reputation as a go-to songwriter as she’s collaborated on Felix Cartal‘s “Ready for Love” and Dubvision‘s “Hollow,” among others.
Over the course of this site’s nearly six year history, I’ve written quite a bit about the New York-based indie pop quintet, and although they’ve gone through several lineup changes there has been one thing that’s been largely consistently — the quintet specializes in elegantly lush material that’s heavily indebted to Roxy Music, David Bowie and others. With the release of a number singles and their most recent EP, My Body Your Mind (which, coincidentally was released earlier this month) the quintet has seen a growing regional and national profile; in fact, they’ve made frequent tour stops in Rochester, Providence, Philadelphia and Boston — and they’ll be playing at Irving Plaza in February.
