Live Concert Photography: K. Sloan at Rockwood Music Hall 1/26/17
With the release of “Stay” the lead single off her forthcoming Blank Pages EP, the Detroit, MI-born, New York-based singer/songwriter K. Sloan has received attention from Afropunk and elsewhere for nodding at Motown‘s distinctive brand of soul with lush production; but a subtly modern take, complete with unexpected arrangements and instrumentation, as other songs employ the use of sitar. I recently caught the charming, up-and-coming singer/songwriter with her backing band at Rockwood Music Hall last month and from her live set, featuring carefully crafted material paired with a tight backing band and Sloan’s effortlessly soulful vocals, I think we’ll be hearing quite a bit about the Detroit-born, New York-based artist over the next few months.
