Live Concert Photography: L.A. Witch at The Bowery Electric Map Room 6/9/17
Comprised of Ellie English (drums), Sade Sanchez (guitar, lead vocals) and Irita Pai (bass, backing vocals), the Los Angeles, CA-based indie rock/garage rock trio L.A. Witch have developed a reputation both regionally and nationally for a grungy rock sound that draws from late 50s and early 60s rock, The Pleasure Seekers, The Sonics, The Black Angels, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and others — all while bearing a resemblance to JOVM mainstay artists The Coathangers, Sharkmuffin and Death Valley Girls.
Now, as you may recall, earlier this year, I wrote about the release of a live version of their boozy, bluesy-leaning single “Ain’t Coming Home,” recorded during a Levitation Festival set a few years right before the band was set to go on a national tour, to build up buzz for their self-titled debut, which was recently announced to be slated for a September 8, 2017 release through Suicide Squeeze Records, the label home of the aforementioned The Coathangers and several others. As you can imagine, their tour included two NYC are dates — one at Berlin and the other at The Bowery Electric as part of the opening night of the Shattered au Go Go party, which featured DJ sets from Miss Guy, Jesse Malin and others. Check out some photos from L.A. Witch’s set from The Bowery Electric’s Map Room below.
