Live Concert Photography: No Swoon with Death by Piano at Mercury Lounge 11/14/18
No Swoon is an up-and-coming Brooklyn-based up-shoegaze/dream pop trio, featuring Tasha, Zack and Ricky. Formed in 2016, the band’s sound draws from dream pop, shoegaze, post-punk and ethereal wave — and in way that subtly recalls Lightfoils‘ Hierarchy as they’re actively pushing the sonic boundaries of shoegaze.
The up and-coming shoegazers headlined a late set at Mercury Lounge last week that featured the New York-based dark wave duo Death by Piano, an act which has started to receive attention with the release of “The Countdown” off their latest EP The Countdown. Check out photos from the show below.
Opening the night was Death by Piano, an up-and-coming New York-based dark wave duo comprised of Kalen Lister (vocals, keys) and Greywolf, a multi-instrumentalist and producer. With the release of their latest EP, The Countdown, the duo have established themselves with an atmospheric sound that’s centered around sleek and minimalist electronic production, including skittering beats, chopped up samples, soulful blasts of guitar, moody strings and synths, and Lister’s pop star belter vocals.
