Live Concert Photography: Northside Festival 2015

Live Concert: Photography: Northside Festival 2015

As you know, a couple of weeks ago, my dear friend and colleague Natalie Hamingson and I were busily covering the Northside Festival, a festival that has over the last few years has become Brooklyn’s version of SXSW. After shooting Light Asylum’s set at the UO Stage on the Williamsburg Art Walk, Natalie and I parted aways with Natalie heading home, while I headed up to 50 Kent Avenue (formerly known as Williamsburg Park) to catch festival headliners Run the Jewels. With such a high-demand show for my fellow photographers and bloggers, I recognized the need to get to the venue early to ensure that I could cover their set.

And as I was walking up Bedford Avenue, I came across a guy, who was rhyming about how much he loved spaghetti. Yes, spaghetti – and over trap house beats, too. So my Northside week included dead sharks, about 20 different sets of music across Northern Brooklyn and a guy rhyming about spaghetti. The old, strange New York is still around if you pay close attention.
