Much to their fans chagrin, Thee Oh Sees are on a hiatus as their founder and creative powerhouse John Dwyer focuses on an electronic-based side project Damaged Bug. However, Pitchfork’s +1 shot some incredible and raucous footage of Thee Oh Sees, playing “I Was Denied” at the now-shuttered 285 Kent. Although I had only been there once, this footage is a pretty accurate depiction of a normal 285 Kent show – sweaty, raucous and with kids losing their fucking minds. It’s quite a sight, I have to say.

The first few minutes of the video is an interview with Dwyer in which he talks about the differences between playing at big, festival shows and at small DIY venues – he mentions that he enjoys small DIY venues because you can see kids losing their minds and getting psyched over your songs. And naturally, you’ll see that in the video.
