Organ trio Parlor Greens features a collection of grizzled veterans and incredibly accomplished musicians:
- Tim Carman (drums): Arguably best known for his lengthy stint in acclaimed, Boston-based blues outfit GA-20, Carman showcases his ability to start steady, heavy and downright funky pockets for his bandmates.
- Jimmy James (guitar): Through his work with The True Loves and the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, James has firmly established a signature and readily recognizable funky approach that has won him fans across the world.
- Adam Scone (organ): Scone is a soul revival scene stalwart, playing on many Daptone Records sessions since their inception, including with Scone Cash Players and The Sugarman 3. He has learned from some of the beloved lends of soul jazz, including Melvin Sparks and the iconic Dr. Lonnie Smith.
The trio close out 2025 and celebrate the holiday season with the recently released “Auld Lang Syne”/”Every Day Will Be Like a Holiday.” The A-side sees the band tackling The Black On White Affair‘s rendition of the beloved holiday classic, “Auld Lang Syne.” Interestingly, the Parlor Greens rendition is a lovingly straightforward take on the original that opens with a mournful introduction, focusing on the loved ones who aren’t with us that builds up into a strutting, joyful groove, anchored around a scorching Scone solo that captures the bright hope of what a new year may bring.
The B-side is an instrumental cover of William Bell‘s “Every Day Will Be Like a Holiday.” The Parlor Greens’ take on the song is mellow take on the original that retains the original’s longing and anticipation for a long overdue reunion with a loved one. Both sides capture the sense of longing, despair and hope that the holiday season can evoke for all of us — often for vary different reasons.
Parlor Greens’ “Auld Lang Syne”/”Every Day Will Be Like A Holiday” are available now as a 7″ vinyl 45rpm single and on DSPs through Colemine Records.
