New York-based band herMajesty recently released their latest single, “Lisbon Street.” The track is a bit of a sonic departure from their Images from the Vanishing Night, as it has a dusty, psychedelic and mournful feel. The cello and guitar swirl around the vocals in a way that’s both gorgeous and sad… In some way, as you’re listening to it, you can picture the narrator of the song walking around Lisbon’s dusty town square, deep in his own thoughts and regrets.

As it turns out that the song is inspired a bit by the mournful Portuguese folk music, fado. And helping to add to the mournful feel is an actual field recording of the Lisbon tram.
