News: LEVITATION Announces 2026 Lineup

Founded back in 2008 as Austin Psych Fest by members of The Black Angels and friends, the independent event sparked a movement, inspiring the creation of similar events across the globe. Austin Psych Fest was renamed LEVITATION in honor of Austin psych rock pioneers The 13th Floor Elevators, who reunited and performed at the festival’s 2015 edition to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Since its founding, LEVITATION has stayed true to its original mission — to be a hub for the global psych scene, while expanding into the worlds of metal, electronic music, punk and all manner of independent and underground music. Through Austin’s music venues and a collection of collaborators and friends from Austin and beyond, LEVITATION continues to be a pillar of the global music scene — and of the global festival circuit.

Yesterday, festival organizers announced that the 2026 edition of LEVITATION will take place September 10, 2026 – September 13, 2026 for a another four-day weekend of music and art in Austin’s Red River District, East Side venues and elsewhere across town.

Radio/East will serve as the festival’s central hub, featuring an expanded two-stage layout, while the festival’s late night and club shows will take place in the town’s Red River District and elsewhere across Austin. The 2026 edition will further cement the festival’s decade-long reoptuiatiuon for lineups spanning psych rock, dream pop, punk, indie rock, metal, darkwave and electronic music. It’s a beloved a beloved record collection manifests across a four-day weekend — and a heady amalgamation of vintage gear, immersive light shows and visuals, buzzing amps, moody synths and good times.

The multi-venue format encourages attendees to choose their own adventure through the entire weekend. You can grab single show tickets for the 20+ shows announced so far — or you can go all in with the festival’s 4-Day Pass and experience the full festival,

Over the course of this site’s 15+ year history, I’ve used my fiercely independent stance to cover music with an eclectic and global perspective that a lot of other publications just don’t have — and will likely never have.

To that end, I could use your support to continue to keep bringing you my unique global perspective on music. There are a number of ways that you can support this work.

I’ve been told that some people would prefer to make a one-time donation because it’s easy and less of an obligation. So, if you’re able to make a one-time donation, there’s a donation box below.
