Seattle, WA-based quartet La Luz have developed a reputation for a sound that is heavily informed by the girl groups of the 50s and 60s – we’re talking about four part harmonies (which you’ll hear towards the song’s bridge as the members of the band “ooh” and “aah”), shimmering guitars fed through generous layers of reverb. “T.V. Dream,” the latest single off their Brainwash/T.V. Dream 7 inch single is slightly twangy bit of surfer rock that sounds as though it could have been part of a Quentin Tarantino movie soundtrack – perhaps part of the Pulp Fiction soundtrack?
The band is making a short tour to support the new effort and it’ll include stops at Shea Stadium tonight; New Haven, CT; Harrisburg, PA; Cleveland, OH; Detroit, MI; Denver, CO; Boise, ID; with a show at Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party.
