Shannon FIelds, known for his work as the founder and producer for Stars Like Fleas and his part as a collaborator in Helado Negro spent the bulk of last year working on a new material – material that manages to be kind of unhinged, danceable, a bit menacing and anxious pop music under the moniker of Leverage Models. Over the past year, Leverage Models has been releasing songs on limited edition cassettes via Portland, OR-based Hometapes, the label home to Bear in Heaven (whose I Love You It’s Cool is one of my personal favorites), Matthew E. White, Megafaun, AU, All Tiny Creatures, and others.

His self-titled debut, will an October 1 on Hometapes and will feature contributions from Sharon Van Etten and members of Yeasayer, Sinkane, and LCD Soundsystem. The official video for the first single, “Corporate Extensions” was recently released and sonically, the track reminds me helluva lot of the Talking Heads – More Songs About Buildings and Food or Remain in Light-era Talking Heads in particular.
