Slated for a January 28th release through Sub Pop RecordsToo True will be the Dum Dum Girls’ third and latest effort. And from the release of the album’s previous singles “Rimbaud Eyes,” “Are You Okay,” and the album’s latest single, “Lost Boys and Girls Club,” there’s a decided change in sonic direction for the band: their lo-fi, 60s girl pop aesthetic has been replaced by a polished, studio sheen, which emphasizes a dark, seductive quality that bears a resemblance to 80s New Wave. Lyrically, the songs move away from the heartache/heartbreak of their previous two efforts but manage to be just as direct, if not more so. Sure, the sound here is dark but it’s gorgeous and incredibly sexy.

The quartet will be playing their album release show on January 30th at the Mercury Lounge
