The Berlin, Germany-based British artist Steven Warwick writes, records and performs under the moniker of Heatsick. And as Heatsick, he’s become well known for music that contains a bitingly acerbic wit and a sound that’s minimalist and yet hypnotic and kind of dreamy. The synths seem to gently undulate towards you . .
His forthcoming effort, RE-ENGINEERING, which PAN will release on December 3rd is what Warwick calls a cybernetic spoken word poem that ultimately satirizes modern life, and it’s empty conveniences as you’ll hear on album title track, “RE-ENGINEERING.” In some way, the detached, almost computerized monotone reminds me of “Fitter, Happier” off Radiohead‘s OK Computer.
