Pat DiNizio was one of the most underrated lyricists and the founder of one of the more underrated rock bands of the 80s and 90s — The Smithereens. “A Girl Like You,” “Miles From Nowhere” and on and on were just great, hook-driven songs, even if the band members looked a bit goofy. But they owned the fact that they were from Jersey.
DiNizio was born 69 years ago today. Sadly, he died back in 2017. But today, let’s celebrate the man’s life and work.
Happy birthday, Pat! Happy birthday, wherever you are!
