Young, up-and-coming electro pop artist Emily Vaughn originally hails from small town Florida but her debut single “Hollow” will likely capture the attention of the blogosphere as it pairs her self-assured and seductive vocals with sparse, skittering percussion and trembling synths. Production-wise, the song manages to have the contemporary minimalist sound that bears a resemblance to Beacon, BRAIDS and others while lyrically the song talks about darker subjects – crippling self-doubt, lust and obsessive desire; in fact, for someone so young, the song possesses the perspective of someone much older.
