2012 was both quite successful and memorable – I’ve met an amazing array of music industry folks, artists and fellow bloggers, and I’ve covered some incredible shows and festivals. Of course, as I’ve mentioned a couple of times before, with 2012 coming to a close, I can’t help but to be a bit nostalgic. In some way, I thought it would be an interesting way to close out the year with some classic concert footage of artists that I admire.
I may have mentioned it here before but I’m a huge fan of the Clash. London Calling and Combat Rock are two of my favorite albums, and when Joe Strummer died ten years ago, it was heartbreaking. While on YouTube, I came across this live footage of the Clash, live in Tokyo, shot in 1982. A great deal of the set focuses on London Calling with some tunes their self-titled debut, Sandinista, their then-newest album, Combat Rock, and others. If there are two words that I could use to describe the footage: intense and passionate.
