Australian singer/songwriter Nicholas Murphy has performed and recorded under the moniker Chet Faker, a crafted pseudonym which is an ode to the singing style of Chet Baker, while incorporating the time he spent producing house and disco.

This year has proven to be a pretty big year for Murphy, as he was featured on the Australian/Swedish sibling group, Say Lou Lou’s “Fool of Me,” a track that the folks at Pitchfork praised, and he collaborated with his fellow countrymen in Flume on “Left Alone.” And over the fall, he’ll be making his first North American tour, a tour which will include stops in Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Vancouver, BC; Portland, OR; Pittsburgh, PA; Boston, MA; Webster Hall with Flume on 9/11; Montreal, QC; Toronto, ON; and several other stops.

Murphy, as Chet Faker teamed up with Kilo Kish for “Melt.” The title is quite apt considering the fact that the song manages to have an icy sparseness but it has a sultry seductiveness that cracks the surface ever so gently.
