Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Jesse Harris had his first major breakthrough in 2003 when he had penned Norah Jones’ first and biggest hit, “Don’t Know Why.” And as a result, Harris has had quite the solo career, as he’s written for and collaborated with the likes of Bright Eyes, Cat Power, Feist, M. Ward,  Mike Patton, John Zorn, Solomon Burke, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris and an impressive list of others. 

Harris’ forthcoming 13th full-length effort, No Wrong No Right, slated for a February 10, 2015 through Dangerbird Records is reportedly influenced by Neil Young’s After the Gold Rush, as both Gold Rush and No Wrong are comprised of rock songs and hushed, acoustic, folk songs with both albums alternating between the two modes; however, where No Wrong differs is that it includes a couple of instrumental compositions that feature the members of Star Rover, the Brooklyn-based duo of Will Graefe (guitar) and Jeremy Gustin (drums), with whom Harris collaborates with throughout most of the album, as well as with guitarist Julian Lage. 

The first single from the album, album title track “No Wrong No Right” bears a resemblance to T Bone Burnett’s incredible The True False Identity as the song has a dusty old-timey feel while being comprised of frenetic and angular guitar chords, a blistering and bluesy guitar solo, and a complex and percussive rhythm paired with Harris laconically drawled vocals which express a modern sense of anxiety and uncertainty — and in a bluesy, country inspired song. 

The official video employs a relatively simple concept – the band performing the song but shot with strobe light to create the video’s glitchy feel but it’s the addition of the dancers that give the video a uniquely surreal feel.
