My connection from Toronto Pearson landed in Montréal Trudeau at around 11:30am. My duffle bag was the first bit of luggage off the plane.
My previous transit card had expired some time, so I had to purchase a new one. I took the 747 bus into town, but I had a few hours before I could check into my hotel. I got off the bus at Lionel Groulx. I Google Mapped some directions, got on the orange line and round to Mont Royal Avenue. Back in the Montréal groove again . . .
By 2:30 or so, I was eating poutine from La Banquise and chatting with a dear, local friend. By 4:15 or so, I had checked into my room, pulled out the rain gear and headed back out.
Analogue Addiction and FME hosted a pre-FME party at L’Escogriffe, one of my favorite rooms in town. The night’s bill featured three bands, who were playing in Rouyn-Noranda that week: The night’s headliner Swiss-born, Ontario-based electronic artist Camilla Sparksss; New York-based balaclava-wearing punks Balaclava, who will be releasing their full-length debut through Mothland; and Montréal-based punks Thee Soreheads.
