Live Concert Photography: Eivør with Sylvaine at Music Hall of Williamsburg 2/22/25
Acclaimed Faroese singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actor Eivør, one of the most prolific, challenging and forward-thinking contemporary Nordic artists played a headlining set as Music Hall of Williamsburg last month.
Over the course of her nearly three decade career, Eivør’s work has spanned a wide range of genres including folk, art pop, jazz, folk rock, classical and electronica — both as the frontperson of her first band Clickhaze and as a solo artist.
Released last year through Season of Mist, the acclaimed Faroese artist’s 11th album Enn saw her leaning heavily into brooding and darker electronics while tying back to her Nordic and Faroese roots with most of the album’s lyrics written in collaboration with Faroese poet Marjun Syderbø Kjelnæs and sung in Faroese.
Her headlining set at Music Hall of Williamsburg features a mix of Enn’s breathtakingly mesmerizing material, previously released fan favorites and songs written for the soundtracks of God of War and Netflix’s The Last Kingdom that revealed a voice with an powerful, operatic range paired with music that sounds as though it evokes the North Sea.
Kathrine Shepard is a San Diego-born, Oslo-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the creative mastermind behind the acclaimed solo,.heavy metal recording project Sylvaine. Since Shepard started the project in 2013, she has released four albums, including 2018’s Atoms Aligned, Coming Undone, which earned a nomination for best metal album at the Norwegian Grammy Awards, making her the first woman to earn a nomination in that category.
