If you’ve been frequenting this site over the past year, you may have come across a post or two on Glamglare.com’s monthly indie music showcase at The Delancey — and although the site was officially founded in 2014 by married duo Oliver Bouchard and Elke Nominikat can trace its origins back to when the duo met in their hometown of Munich, Germany in the 90s, and bonded over a mutual love and appreciation of Lisa Stansfield‘s fantastic breakout hit “All Around The World.” While in Munich, the duo put on showcases and minded their local scene fro the next cool thing; however, by the early 2000s, Bouchard and Nominikat relocated to New York, where they quickly discovered a vital and crowded music scene, that they began blogging about in 2001 — with Glamgare being a way to champion the artists they loved.

Last month, Glamglare hosted a showcase that featured JOVM mainstay artist Blonde Maze, as a last minute replacement, the Asbury Park, NJ-based indie rock/surf rock trio Dentist and the Madison, NJ-based trio indie rock quartet Above the Moon.  Check out photos from the show below.

Headlining the night was  JOVM mainstay act, Blonde Maze, the solo recording project of New York-based electronic music artist and producer Amanda Steckler. Over the past few years, Steckler has received attention from this site and elsewhere for slow-burning and atmospheric electro pop, similar to the likes of contemporaries like ACES and others; however, recently, Steckler’s sound has increasingly shifted towards a warmer, dance floor friendly house music-influence. Steckler’s recent Glamglare set featured older material like “Summer Rain” and  “Antarctica,” as well as newer, unreleased material.

  Comprised of founding uno Emily Bornemann (vocals, guitar) and Justin Bornemann (guitar) with Matt Hockenjos (drums), the Asbury Park, NJ-based indie rock trio Dentist can trace their origins back to 2008 when the band’s founding duo met at punk hangout TGI Fridays’ and played together in a number of different iterations until they formed Dentist in 2013. With the release of their 2014 self-titled debut, the trio quickly established a reputation for crafting a sound that draws from punk rock, riot grrl, surfer rock and guitar pop in a similar fashion to High Waisted and others. Building on a growing profile, the members of Dentist have toured with the likes of JEFF the Brotherhood, Laura Stevenson, Television, Screaming Females, Ringo Deathstarr, Mrs. Magician and others. The Asbury Park, NJ-based trio’s 2016 sophomore effort Ceilings reportedly found the band further expanding on their sound while retaining the elements that first caught the attention of the blogosphere and elsewhere.

Opening the night was the Madison, NJ-based indie rock quartet Above the Moon. Comprised of Kate Griffin (vocals, guitar), Shawn Murphy (guitar, vocals), Chris Mangin (bass) and John Gramuglia (drums), the New Jersey-based indie rock quartet specialize in a sound that meshes 90s, 120 Minutes era alt rock and contemporary indie rock.
