Live Concert Photography: Lexi Todd at Rockwood Music Hall 7/25/19
Lexi Todd is an accomplished music attorney during the day and an up-and-coming, Brooklyn-based neo-soul/jazz pop singer/songwriter, who performs both as a solo artist and as the front woman of local funk act Chevy Lopez. Her latest single “Madonna” is a slow-burning and strutting bit of neo-soul, centered around a sinuous bass line, twinkling keys, stuttering drumming and Todd’s self-assured and sultry vocal delivery. And while bearing an uncanny resemblance to JOVM mainstays Vinegar Mother and Joanna Teters, the song is a bold, feminist anthem in which its narrator carves out her own place at the proverbial table, and in her own way.
I recently caught the up-and-coming, Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter at Rockwood Music Hall. Check out photos from the show below.
