Mount Kimbie, the British duo of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos, have a reputation for defying expectations — as a duo they’ve gone from being a bedroom produced electronic outfit on their debut effort, to a full-fledged studio produced outfit on their sophomore effort, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth, which Warp Records released back in May. The latest single off the band, “You Took Your Time” features King Krule’s laconic, drowsy vocals (which oddly enough remind me a bit of Tom Vek, if he delivered his lyrics as a rapper).

The official video directed by Swedish director Marcus Söderlund, was filmed in the outskirts of Tilbury, Essex, UK. Filmed in a gorgeous black and white, the video is stark and contemplative, fitting for a part of the world that’s bleak and seemingly hopeless, and it follows several characters through brief and kind of surreal narrative of equal hopelessness and despair.
