New Audio: Beat Connection’s Joyous Summer Love Track “So Good”

With the release of their critically applauded debut effort, Peace GardenBeat Connection quickly became a blogosphere sensation for a slickly produced dance rock sound. Now, if you’ve been following JOVM for the last few months, you may recall that I wrote about the quartet’s previous single “Illusion,” which revealed a subtle reworking of their sound — although not as rock orientated, their sound manages to be increasingly club-friendly. Their latest single “So Good” is a breezy, pop-confection that seems to subtly channel Junip and classic, 80s synth pop, as shimmering guitar chords, cascading synth stabs, handclaps, finger snaps and swirling electronics are paired with an effortlessly soulful voice and an incredibly catchy, arena-friendly hook.

As the band’s producer Reed Juenger explains in press notes, “The inspiration for this song is the feeling another person gives you, the longing, the love, the desperation, the desire, all of it expressed as directly as possible.” Listening to the song evokes the seemingly infinite possibilities of a new love — and it does so with a urgent sense of joy.
