New Video: The Slick and Seductive Visuals for Majid Jordan’s “Something About You”

Comprised of Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman, the Toronto, ON-based electro pop production and artist duo Majid Jordan met while as students at the University of Toronto — and while in school, the duo wrote and recorded their debut EP Afterhours. Although written and recorded under the duo’s original name Good People, the effort caught the attention of fellow Toronto-resident Drake, who later collaborated with the duo on his mega-hit single “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” As a result of that single’s massive success, Al Maskati and Ullman quickly rose to international prominence, as well as critical acclaim.

Building upon the buzz that they had received with their collaboration with Drake, the Toronto-based released their A Place Like This EP, which was released through Drake’s Ovo Sound to quite a bit of fanfare; in fact, if you’ve been frequenting this site, the duo have become JOVM mainstays with the release of EP singles “Her” and “Forever,” both of which paired contemporary R&B with house music in a fashion similar to the work of Beacon, Wolkoff, and others.

Majid Jordan’s much-anticipated full-length, self-titled debut is slated for a February 5, 2016 release and the album’s first single “Something About You” is a thumping house music-leaning electro pop song that pairs plaintive falsetto with driving and hard-hitting drum programming, distorted vocal samples, swirling electronics, twinkling and shimmering synths in what may arguably be the densest and most dance-floor friendly song that the duo have released to date.

The recently released video continues the Canadian’s duo ongoing collaboration with production team Common Good — and the video will continue both groups reputation for seductive and slick visuals.
