Sean Miller (guitar), Pete Urban IV (guitar), Anna Troxell (bass) and Patrick Troxell (drums) formed the Philadelphia, PA-based band Creepoid during a snow storm back in 2009, as a result of boredom and cabin fever. 

Ian Records released the band’s debut full-length effort, Horse Heaven back in 2011. And when the band sold out of it’s initial pressing. No Idea Records re-released the album in March 2012. The band’s sophomore self-titled release was produced by Kyle “Slick” Johnson, who has worked with WAVVES, Modest Mouse, the So So Glos was released early last month. 

“Truth” the first single from the band’s Graveface Records debut EP, Wet, which will be released on Record Store Day this year. has a languid, hazy sort of anxious boredom; the sort of boredom that comes from being trapped in the same place without much means of an escape for a couple of days. Sonically, the song consists of layers of buzzing guitars, and dreamily distracted vocals that may remind some listeners a little bit of Sonic Youth – but a bit darker. 

Interestingly, Creepoid is quite an up-and-coming band as they’ve shared stages with the likes of Kurt Vile, Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Obits, Best Coast, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead …, Twin Shadow, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Psychic Ills, and more. And I fully expect that you’ll be hearing a lot more about them over the course of the summer, especially since they’re embarking on a spring tour that will have them stopping at Cake Shop on April 30th.
