The Minneapolis, MN-based trio of The Blind Shake have been a part of the Midwest’s underground punk scene for quite some time, as they’ve released six full-length albums, a number of singles, three collaborations with Michael Yonkers and another with John Reis. Throughout their career, the trio have developed a reputation for a sound that’s brutal and punishing – in fact, “Old Lake” the first single off the band’s recently released, Breakfast of Failures bore an uncanny resemblance to Motorhead, as the song was comprised of an insistent, locomotive-like chug. The band’s latest single “Go Lie” still firmly lies in the realm of huge, power chord-based rock; however, this single bears more of a resemblance to Obits – in other words, it’s much more grunge rock focused and yet, it still manages to be punishing.
