The Stranglers can trace their history back to the legendary British punk rock scene of the mid-to late 1970s alongside the Sex Pistols, Wire, the Clash and countless others. And although the Sex Pistols were the iconic punk band, many critics and fans viewed the Stranglers as being representative of what was really going on – and in some way, because of it they were among the most commercially successful. Since the band’s founding they’ve released 16 albums and have had 24 Top 40 songs. Few bands can talk of such success. Giants, the band’s 17th album will see a May 28th release through All My Peoples, Fontana and InGrooves, and “Mercury Rising” is the first single from their forthcoming effort.
The band has always had a reputation for defying and subverting expectations while remaining relevant. Check out the super cool, funk of “Mercury Rising,"
