Throwback: Black History Month: Queen Latifah

Today is the eighth day of Black History Month. As we go through the month, I’m going to talk about a collection of Black artists. It’ll be fairly comprehensive and eclectic list — although it won’t be a complete list.

So far I’ve talked about:

Today, I wanted to celebrate Queen Latifah, one of the most regal, powerful and defiantly feminist artists in hip-hop history. And she always had bars, y’all.

Contemporary female emcees owe women like Queen Latifah a debt of gratitude. Their careers wouldn’t be possible without her.
