Weathervane Music created a new documentary series called Shaking Through in which emerging artists are brought together with top artists to write and record an original tune in two days. The latest episode of the series included Steven A. Clark, who released his outstanding sophomore effort, Fornication Under Consent of the King last year, collaborated with members of the War on Drugs, Ava Luna and Man Man for this track, “Bounty.”  Interestingly, it brings Clark’s modern R&B sound a bit closer to the 80s – to me the song manages to sound quite a bit like Timex Social Club’s “Rumors.” (It’s not a bad comparison because that song was pretty decent and sadly forgotten – plus, Public Enemy used it in a sample on “More News at 11” on Apocalypse 91: The Enemy Strikes Black. Yeah, I have that kind of memory.)

Check the track out. Clark released one of my favorite albums last year, and I think he has quite a future ahead of him.
