With the release of their 2012 debut effort, Peace Garden, the quartet of Beat Connection won over large portion of the blogosphere for a rather unique dance rock sound. “Illusion,” the quartet’s latest single is a slickly produced track comprised of dense layers of shimmering, cascading synths, room rocking beats and a Nile Rodgers-like guitar riff paired with a smooth, soulful vocal. The single manages to reveal a subtle reworking of their sound, in some way making their sound much more slick and club ready without glossing over the material’s innate soul.
