Chicago, IL-based EDM label Dance Mania Records has been a huge influence for the majority of the DJs on Boys Noize Records. Boys Noize thought it was time to pay the label a tribute; so he asked his fellow labelmates if they could record tracks on a compilation album – with the end result being Boys Noize Presents Dance Mania. Boys Noize and Housemeister team up on the compilation’s first single “1988,” a track full of room-rattling bass, electronic bleeps and bloops, propulsive, four on the four drums, and explosive flashes of cymbals. The track easily sounds as though it owes a great debt to the frenetic pacing of footwork, drum ‘n’ bass, and house music simultaneously – and it should make you want to twerk your ass off.
