Live Concert Photography: Baby Robot Media Showcases at Piano’s feat. Hayley Thompson-King and Karen and the Sorrows/Hannah Scott at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 3 Mieka Pauley and Vinegar Mother at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 1 10/7/17
Founded by some of the originators of CMJ and its long-running CMJ Marathon, Mondo.NYC is a music, technology and innovation-based festival that in its first two years has quietly taken the place of the beloved CMJ Marathon and of New Music Seminar’s New Music Nights Festival. Now, if you’ve been following me on this site or through my other social media channels, you may recall that I participated in Baby Robot Media‘s “Your First PR Campaign Panel” at NYU’s Kimmel Center; but I also managed to squeeze in some live coverage in between watching my New York Yankees make a surprising, deep run in the postseason, which ended against the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series.
I started off a busy night of live music with a stop at Piano’s over in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, where I caught the classically trained, country singer/songwriter and guitarist Hayley Thompson-King and queer, country act Karen and the Sorrows play Baby Robot Media’s Mondo.NYC Showcase.

While working on a blog post at the Starbucks on the corner of Allen Street and Delancey Street, British, folk singer/songwriter and guitarist Hannah Scott invited me to catch her play Rockwood Music Hall‘s super intimate Stage 3. And once her set finished, I went to Rockwood’s Stage 1, where I caught the soulful, folk and pop singer/songwriter Mieka Pauley and up-and-coming neo-soul act Vinegar Mother.
