Live Concert Photography: Heather LaRose and Elsa Nilsson Quartet
Rockwood Music Hall
December 12, 2015
If you’ve been frequenting this site over the past five or six months or so, you may recall that I’ve written about the up-and-coming Westchester County, NY-based singer/songwriter, Heather LaRose, who my colleague Natalie Hamingson and I met at this past summer’s New Music Seminar’s New Music Nights Festival. Over the past three months or so, LaRose has started to receive attention for material off her recently released Beachside EP. Saturday night, I caught the up-and-coming New York-based singer/songwriter open the night at Rockwood Music Hall, and stayed around to catch some of The Elsa Nilsson Quartet, led by the lovely Gothenburg, Sweden-based Elisa Nilsson (flutes), Jeff McLaughlin (guitar), Alex Minier (bass) and Cody Rahn (drums) playing interesting renditions and interpretations of holiday songs — in particular, the holiday of St. Lucia, which celebrates the Catholic patron saint of the blind and the bringer of light.
Check out some photos from the night below.
