Best known as a solo artist, who has collaborated with the likes of Dead Prez, Bilal, Kanye West, Just Blaze, Pharrell Williams, DJ Hi-Tek, DJ Evil Dee, Kool G. Rap, Rah Digga, Sporty Thievz, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Common, Pharoahe Monch, El-P, Cappadona, Ras Kass, Parrish Smith and a long list of others on a variety of socially and politically conscious projects and one half of beloved act Black Star with Mos Def, Talib Kweli has also been big on promoting and supporting a number of up-and-coming artists, who have received attention across the blogosphere and elsewhere including J. Cole. Jay Electronica, Kendrick Lamar, NIKO IS and others. Kweli is also the founder of Javotti Media, which he and the label have described as “a platform for independent thinkers and doers.”
Kweli along with a cast of friends and collaborators that included DJ Enuff, Brady Watt, NIKO IS, K’Valentine and a full live band for his annual two show stop at the unofficial JOVM home office Brooklyn Bowl earlier this month — including a politically charged Wednesday night set.
