Live Concert Photography: Karolina Rose and Petal Crush at Mercury Lounge 8/18/18
Now, if you’ve been frequenting this site for some time, you may recall that I first stumbled upon up-and-coming Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter and guitarist Karolina Rose at Kelsey Warren’s wildly eclectic Festival 8 back in 2016. Since then, the up-and-coming Brooklyn-based artist had been busy writing and recording the material that comprised her latest EP Invictus. And from EP singles “Move With Me,” and “Going to Berlin,” Karolina Rose specializes in a sleek, 80s New Wave and synth pop-inspired take on contemporary electro pop that recalls A Flock of Seagulls, Kate Bush and contemporaries like Florence and the Machine but with an earnest, urgent intensity.
Back in August, Karolina Rose played an EP release show at Mercury Lounge on a lengthy bill that also included local indie rock act Petal Crush. Check out photos from the show below.
Petal Crush is a rather mysterious Brooklyn-based indie rock act that has received attention over the past couple of years for their arena rock friendly sound. The act’s debut effort Electrica was released earlier this year, and their set was centered around the material from it.
