Live Concert Photography: Mdou Moctar with Meg Baird and Mary Lattimore and Rough Francis at Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage 7/29/23
Late last month, I was at Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage in Central Park to catch the sort of eclectic bill that I really love: Nigerien singer/songwriter and master guitar shredder Mdou Moctar played a mind-bending headlining set featuring material from his last two albums — 2021’s Afrique Victime and 2019’s llana (The Creator).
Guitarist Meg Baird and harpist Mary Lattimore played a gorgeous set of material that conjured both a much-needed cooling rain and a rainbow. Yeah, seriously.
Burlington, VT-based punks Rough Francis opened. Three of the members are sons of the members of punk pioneers Death. Very cool. As always, photos are are below.
